Philanthropy Research: foundations, universities and research relationships
Philanthropy research is emerging as a growing field of interest. Questions as to what constitutes philanthropy research and how it can best address and engage with academic, practice and policy interests and needs have, however, rarely been explored. To this end, Drs Tobias Jung and Alina Baluch organised a roundtable discussion on the theme of ‘Philanthropy Research: foundations, universities and research relationships’. Taking place on the 16th of June 2016 at the University of St Andrews’ School of Management, the roundtable brought together representatives from academia and philanthropy to examine key questions, including: What constitutes philanthropy research? Where, how, and to what extent do foundations recognise the value of philanthropy research? How are universities’ research roles characterised in foundations?
